When you first arrive in Littleroot town on the removal van, there a lot of boring chit chat with various exciting people may, brendan, prof birch etc. Skip through all this until you get to the bit where you try and leave and that cool kid says 'Hey i think i can here someone calling for help'. Rush upwards and you will find prof birch being chased by a poochyena now run up to his bag and steel one of his pokemon quickly... make sure you choose the right one! later on after abattle with prof birch's poochyena it will ask you a very important question: Do you want to give a nickname to your pokemon? yes or no. Now this is the tricky bit, after pressing yes you will be taken to a screen which looks like the alphabet with some punctuation marks on the right hand side and on the far right hand side there are three buttons: back (dont press this it will destroy your letters), case ( turns the letters to lower case, we will need this later) and enter ( again dont press it yet). If you accidently pressed case already dont worry press it 2 more times and it will return to upper case. OK try and aim for the 'T' letter first (again dont worry if u get it wrong first time round: as long as you dont save you can switch the game off and start again). The 'T' letter is located near the bottom of the screen between the letters 's' and 'u'. after pressing 'a' on the 'T' letter (dont get confused with all the letters the 'a' refers to the button on the gameboy as we can all see there is no 'a' in Trevor). Ok after you have typed in 'T' you should see it appear at the top of the screen, this is where the word you are spelling for the nickname should appear. After this move towards the case button and press 'a' again, if your in a hurry you can press 'select' and then press 'a' and you will find the cursor is automatically on the 'case' button. Now were on the home straight, the next letter we need to type in is 'r' this is located near 'T' but a little to the left, you will find that the letters themselves have not moved but they are now in lowercase, 'T' may be a little hard to find at first but remember its in the same place as last time and 'r' is just to the left. OK now type in the following letters: 'e' which is located near the top of the screen, then 'v' ( again near the bottom), 'o' ( another tricky one its somewhere in the middle) and then 'r' again ( if you cant remember where it is check above). Now at the top of the screen you should see that you have typed in the word Trevor. OK now move the cursor towards the enter button at the right of the screen, you will see why i didnt want you to press it until now in a moment... and you will have succesfully nicknamed your pokemon Trevor. Now make sure you save: you dont want to go through that again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !??
PS: im not sure if this will work on emerald or the japanese versions; i've only tried it on Sapphire!
