Gold Harness special item

This is probably the hardest item to obtain in the game: Make sure you are playing on the easy difficulty setting. Kill Pang Dai and Ma Dai. Make Han Sui defect. Han Sui's defection is based on morale, not time. Your morale on Cao Cao's team has to be higher then Ma Chao's. After the morale drop he will defect sometime during the next two minutes. Protect Han Sui. If you are not careful, he will die before he has the chance to defect. Once he does defect, kill everyone except Ma Chao. After a little while he will retreat behind Tong Gate. After a very long period of time, the supply team will appear. It does take a long time, so be careful and the sooner you accomplish the other tasks the better.

Guan Yu's special item

Play the Guan Yu's Escape level as Guan Yu's forces under hard difficulty setting. Kill Zhang He, Zhen Ji, and Xu Huang. A supply unit will appear. Ride (or run) as fast as you can to where Xu Zhu is located. On the way you should meet a supply unit. Kill the supply captain and he will drop Guan Yu's Blue Moon Dragon. The supply unit will leave in a short time, so move quickly.

Huang Zhong's special item

Play as Huang Zhong (Shu Forces) at the Mt. Ding Jun level under the hard difficulty setting. Defeat Xiahou Shang and the special item message will appear.

Lu Xun's special item

Play the Battle of Yi Ling as the Wu force under the hard difficulty setting. Defeat all generals except Lui Bei. Some time into the game it will appear in the maze trap. Guide yourself around by pressing Start. The Falcon should be located in the northeast area of the stone warrior formation. It has Speed +22, Musuo Max +73, Defense +43, Reach +29 and an instant death attack.

Power Scroll special item

Play the Assault On Wu Territory level as the allied forces (not Sun Ce's). This is the battle where Sun Ce normally gets Taishi Ci to join Wu. As Taishi Ci, defeat all the generals except Sun Ce. His fourth weapon should appear at the top of the screen.

Zhang Jiao's special item

Choose free mode, and choose Zhang Jiao. Play the Yellow Turban Rebellion level as Zhang Jiao's forces under the hard difficulty setting. Run to Sun Jian's forces first. Fight until an enemy ambush appears. Zhang Jiao will say "Impudent fools." Zhang Jiao's fourth weapon will appear at the top of He Jin's castle. Near by the river will also be a Life +10.

Zhou Yu's special item

Play as Sun Quan's forces at the battle of Chi Bi. Wait for Zhuge Liang to blow the winds then defeat Xiahou Dun and Zhang He. The special item message will appear. Zhou Yu's fourth weapon can now be found in the center of the ship.

Attack On Liu Biao: Hidden items

When playing as Sun Jian's forces, the Musuo +10 can be found on the far left fort of the level, in between middle and the farther tents on the left side. The Life +10 can be found when you follow Sun Ce up the path to a small open area. There will be three pots in a row there. The Life +10 is the pot on the left.

Battle At Yi Ling: Easy defense level up

Play the level with a new character with at least their second weapon. Kill Sun Shang Xian and Lu Xun with a 20+ hit combo for a total of Defense +16. Repeat this as needed.

Yellow Turban Rebellion: Easy level up
 Rating: 100%
Play the level as the Han forces under free mode and the hard difficulty setting with a character who you want to make stronger. From where ever you start, go straight to the allied Gate in the bottom left corner and defeat the general who is attacking it. Then, go to the river where there is a scene of the it being frozen, Immediately run back to the gate earlier, without killing any more generals. Wait until Liu Bei, Sun Jian, and Cao Cao die, leaving the castle under siege. Wait until He Jin is under attack and help him. All that remains is to kill anyone who gets in your way. The Gate closest to Zhang Jiao is the only one that will send units your way. Getting a horse to go and close all the Gates is helpful. In doing this, you should be able to kill over 1000 to 2000 enemies, raising you five or six levels.

Get the Life+10s on the east wall platform, and at the top opening of the castle inside the jar atop the ridge to your immediate right. Then, get the Musou+10 on the second platform on the west wall. Repeat this level many times using this strategy. Remember to kill every general this level.

Easy third weapons
 Rating: 100%
Go to the Surprise Attack On Lui Biao level with an already enhanced Lu Bu and the character you want. There are five weapon boxes throughout the level. Get those with the other character, not Lu Bu after killing every person on the level with Lu Bu, except for the main person. Then, kill the last person. There is also a Musou +10 and an Life +10 in the level. For a third weapon, play under the hard difficulty setting. If you do not get their second or third weapon, play on the other side.

Max out a character (with or without a fourth weapon). Put a base strength character in the player one slot. The game adjusts its difficulty according to the first player's strength. Then, put your maxed character in slot two under the normal difficulty setting. Play the Battle At Tong Gate. At the start of the battle, put your first player character in a safe spot nearby then kill Tong Gate Generals Ma Dai, Pang De, and Han Sui. By now Ma Chow will be occupied with Cao Cao -- kill Cheng Yin and he will drop a weapon box. Keep the box on the second player's screen and have player one take the box. Have player two stand there and let his bodyguards take care of any units. Then, take player one to the northern-most point of Cao Cao's side of Tong Gate. Once there you will find a box with a weapon inside. Take the weapon, then hide player one and kill Ma Chow with player two.

Play the Battle of Mt. Ding Jun level on Shu forces. Turn around and take the path Zhand Fei is taking. Kill Xiahou De to get the weapons box. Go to where Xiahou Yuan is located and go right, then break open the box and pick up the weapons box. Next, find and kill Cao Hond and pick up the weapons box for the last one in the stage. There is also a Life +10 to the right of Cao Cao, to the left of you. You should play the level under the normal or hard difficulty setting for a better chance at getting the third weapon. The weapon will give you better stats. For example, playing on easy results with Life +9, playing on hard results in Life +31.

Easy fourth weapons
 Rating: 100%
Start the level under the hard difficulty setting, acquire the weapon, then quit and save the game. Set the difficulty to easy, then finish the level. Note: This may not always work.

Play under the hard difficulty setting with two players (one who already has a fourth weapon and the other that needs a fourth weapon). Complete what is necessary with the good character, then use the other character to pick up the fourth weapon. For example, to get Taishi Ci's special weapon, play the Assault On Wu Territory level with Lu Bu and his fourth weapon and Taishi Ci. Get Taishi Ci to safety. Kill every one except Sun Ce. Then, use Taishi Ci to get his fourth weapon.

Note: You do not necessarily have to pick up the item with the weaker character. Anybody can pick up the fourth item for the weaker character. It will automatically be given to the character without the fourth weapon.

For precious (special) items, put the character whose weapon you are after in the first slot (base strength) and put a maxed out character in slot two. With player two, perform the actions required to make the weapon appear then just have player one collect it. For Supply Troop weapons, have a base strength player in slot one and the character whose weapon you are after in slot two. Do what is needed to get the weapon under the hard difficulty setting.

Get a character's second weapon , choose the Nanman campaign, then kill everyone (including Meng Hou), except Meng Hou for the last time. At the end, you should have three weaponsm with one being the special weapon. This can be done with Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Zhao Yun, Zhou yu, and Xiahou Dun. Note: Always use the second weapon always as it does more damage.

Shorter Musou

A shorter Mosou Max stat may be better, since it requires less time to fill up and Musou more readily available. Avoid taking the +10 Musou boxes and do not use +xx Musou Max items.

Opening gates

When fighting on a level with wooden gates, position your character against to and facing a gate. Try to fire an arrow through it, at the enemy soldiers on the other side. When you hit one, the gate will open up.

Xu Zhu the elephant in opening

Enable the "Opening Edit option" code. At the scene where the player you select would be on an elephant hitting people, choose Xu Zhu. Play it to see Cao Cao on a elephant, but you will first see Xu Zhu taking the place of the elephant.

Play as Lu Bu

On Hu Loa Gate, get over 1000 KOs and defeat Lu Bu. This can only be done while on the Allied forces.

An easier way to get over 1000 KOs on Hu Lao Gate is play on the easy difficulty setting, then pay attention to the enemy gates. If you see a lot of enemy units pouring out, make sure to put your bodyguards on defense then stay near the gate opening. KO the enemies as they appear. Try not to KO the Gate Captain or no more units will appear. This is especially critical around the three gates in Dong Zhuo's fortress where you can accumulate over 450 KOs.

Cao Cao's special item

Play the Yellow Turban level, on the Han side. You must defeat Zhang Bao and Zhang Liang, in that order, without any gates being lost. Once you have done this, a supply team will appear on the northwest enemy entry point and will make its way to the entry point on the top center of the screen. Kill the supply captain to get the Cao Cao's fourth weapon, Wrath Of Heaven. This weapon is well worth the work. His sixth attack has a purple haze around it and will kill anyone on contact except a Boss.

Lu Bu's special item

Play the Hu Lao Gate level under the hard difficulty setting. Defeat Zhang Fei, Guan Yu, Lui Bei, and Gong Dzan. A supply team will appear near the mid-north gate. Quickly kill the Supply Captain and he will have Lu Bu's fourth weapon, the Sky Scorcher. It has Lightning property and has an electrically charged fouth and fifth hit when you hit them to the ground, and a sixth hit.

Dian Wei's special item

Play the Battle At Wan Castle level as Dian Wei under the hard difficulty setting . Defeat general Hu Che Er. A supply captain will appear in the south. Defeat him to get Dian Wei's fourth weapon, which as HP +84, Attack +27, and Musou Charge +28.

Sky Scorcher special item

Play as Lu Bu on Hu Lao Gate for Dong Zhuo's forces (possibly under the hard difficulty setting). Defeat Cao Cao and a supply unit will appear not far from where you defeat him. Defeat the Supply Captain and pick up the weapon box, which will be Lu Bu's Sky Scorcher. It is a 6 hits electrically charged weapon with a 50 Attack, along with a +24 Jump, +90 Musuo Max, +90 HP Max, +30 Attack, and a +60 Defense.

At Hu Lao Gate as Lu Bu under Dong Zhuo under the hard difficulty setting, defeat Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Liu Bei, and Gongsun Zhan. There will be a message that a supply unit has appeared to the northeast of the map. Defeat the Supply Captain and get the weapon box with the Sky Scorcher.
