When you enter GM Career mode it will give you a list of things to do, it ussually says that a player (Sammy Sosa, Andy Petitte, Richard Hidalgo, and even Jim Thome and Manny Ramirez, ect.) is overpaid and wants him off our team, well I've found a solution. First go to the Edit Rosters page and find the player you want then release them to Free Agency. Then, go to Franchise mode and select the team that you want to be. After that, go to Free Agents screen. Select your player, and raise the number of years, but not to far if they don't like the deal and storm out of the negotiating room you'll have to do it all over again unless you saved the roster. But, Before you exit Go to the minors screen and promote him to the majors or else he won't be loyal to you. Finally, go to the Load Rosters screen and select Franchise1, then enter GM Career mode. I've also found a way to still get the budget points. Go and get Kevin Jarvis or Steve Karsay, and then trade them to their original teams for an awful player with potential.
